Named for the two neighboring cities that became joined in 1913, Winston-Salem is a city with deeply rooted Colonial character. In its duality of both modern and historic flare, Winston-Salem’s downtown scene pairs new skyscrapers with original taverns that date back to the 1700s. In its park are the stone remains of a Moravian community, with reconstructed forts and schoolhouse buildings. Yet the city is also home to contemporary art museums and modern universities. With the iconic vista of Hanging Rock State Park only 40 minutes away, Winston-Salem is one of North Carolina’s best kept secrets.

Although there aren’t many RV campgrounds directly within the city, the surrounding parks and wooded hills are a perfect place for RV stays less than 10 minutes from the action.
Salem Breeze RV Park is located directly south of Winston-Salem in a country setting. Trees surround the grassy property, giving Salem Breeze the placid atmosphere of a forest meadow. The park does not come with showers, restrooms, or laundry because of its rustic nature. It supports electric 30/20/15 and 50 amp, and is pet friendly.
Just outside of the center of Winston-Salem is the popular Tanglewood Park. At the campgrounds, guests are fully immersed in nature; the majority of the campgrounds sit upon lush green grass, under the shade of trees. As such, the campground’s main amenities are the extensive walking trails of Tanglewood Park, as well as the close distance to downtown Winston-Salem. The park is pet friendly and supports full electric hookups.
Oak Hollow Family Campground features woodland camping on the water. Nearly every campsite at Oak Hollow has views of and access to Hiatt Branch marina for a true lakeside vacation. Plus, if that’s not enough for swimming enthusiasts, the park also has a pool to give its guests the best of both worlds. Oak Hollow supports full electric hookups, is pet friendly, and has on-site restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities.
