Fremont Attractions
The Bay Area is known for its vibrant outdoor scene. In the case of Fremont, that scene extends from far mountainous parks to the railways that connect them.
The Niles Canyon Railway is a section of heritage railway that runs through the premiere transcontinental railroad alignment through the region. The railway has been incredibly preserved and reconstructed since its inception in the 1860s, and serves as both a museum and live exhibit. Passengers can ride the railway between Sunol and Niles Canyon on select weekends throughout the summer, and in the winter the railway has a limited number of tickets for a special holiday night time ride known as the Train of Lights.
Located in the rolling hills between Dry Creek Pioneer Regional Park and Augustin Bernal Park, Westover Winery offers fine wine and gorgeous views. The winery itself is adorned in classic Spanish architecture, with water fountains and a back patio to relax in. Indoors, the moody lighting and decor make for a luxe ambiance to enjoy drinks in.
The collection of parks to the east of Fremont are a quick getaway from the city into the sanctum of nature. The region is a vast landscape of rippling green hills and valleys as far as the eye can see in every direction. In parts, wildflowers cover the grass beneath the open sky, and in others water cascades down craggy mountain rocks. In particular, Del Valle Regional Park is a popular spot amongst locals for boating and swimming in its grand central lake.
